Rita Jacobs
Biography

Rita Jacobs' mission is to change the perception of what constitures the criteria and essence of jewelry today. She believes that the body is the pedestal for her jewelry, or in her own words, her art. With over 20 years of design experience, Jacobs turned to jewelry creation after a long career in interior design.

A member of the American Society of Interior Designers and a graduate of the New York School of Interior Design, Rita owned her own design firm, "Inscape". She designed interiors for commercial and residential spaces, as well as created sculpture for home and garden using stainless steel wire. Rita’s love of sculpture and design gave birth to her new career in jewelry design.

Rita applies her experience with stainless wire in sculpture to her jewelry designs, using precious 18K gold wire. Her jewelry is interactive and able to change with the wearer’s needs, outfit, or whim. Precious gems are enmeshed in a fine web of 18k gold, woven to encircle the body with shimmer and light. Necklaces have removable additions, earrings can be worn from a chain, pendants can be pinned on as a brooch ... every Rita Jacobs sculpture interacts with its wearer. Each piece designed is one-of-a-kind and unique.

Before pursuing a career in design, Ms. Jacobs graduated from the City College of New York and followed a career in teaching. She lives in Armonk, NY with her husband and concentrates on her newest form of art for the body ... jewelry.

After many successful shows in Westport, Connecticut and Tarrytown, New York, Rita will be participating again at the Westport show on the memorial day weekend, and the Lyndhurst Show on September 16th and 17th 2006. Call for Directions.

18k woven gold necklace, with amethyst stones, fresh water pearl and diamond moon detachable or removable pin earring. Like Doris, it reflects a beautiful lady, inside and out. Not a flashy stone, but one that reflects culture and elegance.
